It may be a little cliché to say it, but I don’t care: Winter is the best season for stories, preferably told or read by lamp or candle light, wrapped in soft blankets and sipping a warm drink. So of course it must be in winter that I release my first novella into the wild.
Briar, a work of interstitial fiction encompassing elements of fairy tale, fantasy, and horror, will be released as an ebook at the beginning of January. I’m still working out the last details of formatting and publication, but the edits are finished and she has a cover! Just look at how beautiful. I can only hope my little tale does the cover justice.
Briar explores what comes after the happily ever after, when true love's kiss has broken the curse, the princess has left her tower, and the supporting characters in the tale are left behind. What becomes of the people living in the shadow of the story, of the beings who were enchanted to see the the curse through to its conclusion?
In the coming weeks I’ll have more details about where to find my book and a more specific release date, so keep an eye on the blog and/or my social media accounts for more details! I can’t wait to share this story with you all.
Gorgeous cover art by Katherine Bierman. For commissions and more information, visit her website.
Michelle! I am so excited for this! Thank you for bringing it out to the world! I'm delighted for many reasons, but the most overpowering is that I can finally share it with people. I've had to remind myself many times to keep my lips sealed. But soon it won't need to be a secret any longer! - insert a squeal of joy here -
